This is why when people complain about the world going to hell nowadays, while that may be true, it was also going to hell in the “good ol’ days”.
Schools may have active shooter drills today but they also had nuclear attack drills in the 60’s.

In some sense, the Carribean Crisis happened because of technological breaktrough in missile building in Ukraine – both R-12 and R-14 were invented and engineered there.

One of my favorite movies growing up in the 90s was this movie called “Matinee”. It takes place in Key West during the Cuban Missile Crisis and they have a scene with the SAMs getting set up on the beach like this.
