I thought the allies all fled Singapore before the Japanese invaded? Looking at the picture I don’t see a single Singaporean face in there either. Did they keep prisoners separate? I know the Japanese marched a whole load of Singaporean prisoners to their death in the sea. Did that happen to British as well?

If you’re interested to know more, but would rather get your knowledge from a narrative instead of a history book, then you should check out “King Rat” by James Clavell (the guy who wrote Shogun).
Clavell was a prisoner in Changi and wrote the book based on his experiences there. I really enjoyed it, and loved learning about the subject from someone who lived it.

James Clavell, the author of Shogun and other highly popular novels, was in there somewhere.

Interesting photo. Each cell has a toilet, the men don’t seem underfed. I wonder if they were high level prisoners.
