If you’re interested in hearing about the Bataan Death March from someone who survived it, check out the Ken Burns WWII series. I think its in part 2. They were forced to walk non-stop for 6 days and 7 nights with no food and no water.

About 20 years ago at a work function, I met a man who was a friend of my boss. He was a survivor of the Bataan Death March. I’ve always felt like being able to shake his hand and personally thank him for his sacrifice is one of the greatest honors I’ll ever have.

* Private First Class Frank Spear, 1919 – 09 July 1945;
* Captain James McDonald Gallagher, 1915 – 09 April 1942.
