I wonder if they tried to not have all of them in one place all at once. One accident and a whole lineage is destroyed.

Got damn, George V looks so much like Zar Nicolai II.
Edit: I know, they are cousins

Kings are just normal people. The absurdity of having someone rule over everyone else is paramount in images like this.

We dodged a bullet with Edward VIII. Up there with the worst monarchs.

All I can think of is ‘smoking is bad for you’ since 3/4 died from smoking related diseases.

Edward VII was a Freemason, along with almost anyone in control during the Victorian Era. In 1889-92 these people, along with the London Metropolitan Police, did their utmost to eliminate evidence and silence witnesses who could identify Jack the Ripper, now identified as another Freemason, Michael Maybrick. A line in their initiation statement demands that masons must hide any secrets about fellow masons, no matter how bad the secret. Edward was involved in many ceremonies of high-ranking Victorian Era masons, as was Maybrick. The masons at that time feared that if the “common” citizens discovered the truth, the entire ruling class, from police commissioners all the way up to the inhabitants of Buckingham palace, would be ousted by rebellion. Victorian England was the worst example of the “haves” over the “have nots”. [source: “They All Love Jack” by Bruce Robinson]
