Your tax dollars at work!
And Trump is giving away $ trillions to the billionaires… $39 billions to Israel in Military Aid alone.
Downhere_Seeds: Clearly money is not the issue for the IRS, it’s owning people
Marcuskb91: Additionally, with the continued drawdown of IRS employees it has become easier to commit tax fraud and harder to receive tax assistance through the IRS hotlines. This government entity has become less and less efficient over the last 10 years.
IAMAExpertInBirdLaw: The IRS actually will work with you if you’re low/no income you just have to call them and talk to them. Just follow the instructions on the paper they send you.
western_red: > Congress directed the beleaguered IRS to use private contractors in 2015 in an attempt to make some headway into the $450 billion of unpaid taxes owed to the federal government.
This is the problem. People hate paying for government employees, and especially hate the IRS. It would be more cost effective to just have the IRS do this. A lot of people like to cut back on federal employees, but they don’t seem to realize that the work still needs to be done. So instead they have to hire private contractors who cost a whole lot more.
Fluxcapaciti: How do they ultimately collect though? Swear I’m just asking for a friend who consistently tells them to fuck off
NoahWebstersGhost: “IRS collects $20 million to collect $6.7 million”
Kompromod: I really feel like this country has really nailed the public/private business mix!

Afrobean: The tax system is fully controlled as a tool of class warfare. It’s not about getting their money worth, it’s about hurting those considered to be lesser.
Joy_McClure: They just charge us the 13.7 next year. It’s all profit.
RallyToRestoreSanity: The recent returns of approximately 4,100 taxpayers who made payments to the IRS after their debts were assigned to PCAs show:
– Median income was about $41,000;
– Over 1,100 taxpayers, or 28 percent, had incomes below $20,000; and
– 44 percent had incomes below 250 percent of the federal poverty level.
– 19 percent, or 790, had incomes below the federal poverty level; median income for these taxpayers was $6,386;36
about 18 percent of the payments were generated in response to the
IRS letter and without any action on the private collector’s part.
