Jimmy Carter, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin share a triple handshake at the Camp David Accords, 1978 [1024 x 718]
What a coincidence. I was watching the pbs 50 years war documentary about Israel and there was extensive focus on Anwar Sadat and Menachem. Sadat really was one of the few good leaders in the middle east during that period (besides King Hussein of Jordan). He initiated peace talks and even after he was essentially pushed into war (Yom Kippur) , he strove to make peace with Israel against the threats and backlash from islamists in his country and the region. Menachem had to deal with similar things. Their efforts were not in vain in the end. Respect to them both.
