_marinate: Context: My dad passed away 6 years ago this November, from prostate cancer, probably a result of agent orange. He was 66 years old. This past weekend on 3 March he would’ve been 72 years old. Miss my old man every day, but I know that he’s still living on with me both literally and figuratively as I’m named after him.
Military context: 75th Rangers, staff sgt, 173rd airborne, ended up being a drill instructor at either Fort Benning or Fort Polk, I can’t remember which, his army book is at home and I’m at uni for the next few weeks. Should also be noted he went on to be a cop with DPD(Detroit) for 20 years after he moved to Michigan from California.
