It took me a while to colorize this photo. I’m no colorizing professional, but the result is satisfying. First I did some research on the actual place. There’s a common misconception that this photo was taken close to the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles. But the floor pattern doesn’t correspond with any floor there. I used Google Street View to check nearby rooms, but nope.
The photo was taken at the Trianon Palace, still at the Versailles town. Actual negotations took place here and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris. The session at the Hall of Mirrors was only for signing purposes.
It’s still wonderful to see these ordinary people doing what they can to watch the monumentous events.
