20 years ago, the infamous Columbine High School massacre occurred on April 20, 1999. Here, four young women headed to a library near Columbine High School where students and staff members were evacuated, after two gunmen opened fire inside a school in the suburb of Littleton, Colorado [1200×1040].
What were you doing when you first heard the news?

Something occurred to me just yesterday. I know the names and faces of the perpetrators of this shooting, but I cannot recall if I ever heard the name or saw a picture of the Parkland shooter. Nothing comes to mind. I’m not even sure if there was only one shooter. I also don’t recall the names of other recent ones like Las Vegas, Charleston, and Sutherland.
Back in 1999 I didn’t have internet access or cable TV, compared to now when I’m looking at news updates several times per day. I hope it’s because the media has purposefully given the perpetrators very little attention and not because there have been too many and my brain is blocking it out.

This is fucking with me, because, I clearly remember trench coats being banned from my middle school around 1995 due to this, that happened in 1999.

It’s one of those moments that you just always remember. I was 23 at the time. This hit especially close to home for me. You see i was a socially awkward individual in my high school years. I wore all black.. Trench coats.. Combat boots. Dealt with my fair share of bullying and whatnot. I always said that some day somebody was going to go off the deep end and pull some shit like this. When it happened.. I couldn’t even justify a “told ya so”… I just felt horrible. All those poor undeserving kids and their families

Not to make light but my first reaction was that this is the 90’s fashion that is back in style. Mom jeans, overalls, choker, crushed velvet.

This is when the NRA and GOP completely lost all my respect. If they won’t reform gun laws when kids are being shot en masse at school, they never will. It’s an ideological battle based on 200 year old laws, and these kids are the victims.
