My parent’s wedding had armed guards at the entrance of the campus chapel. My father’s frat brothers, all WWII vets, did the honors. My 17 year old mother was afraid her father and old boyfriend would stop the wedding.

Why black and white? It’s from 1995 so there is almost no way that isn’t just a filter.
Historically, best man is short for best man at arms. This would be a trusted confidant of the groom who was tasked with ensuring that other suitors wouldn’t be able to take the bride for themselves.
