The “Boys of ’99” (in Italian “I Ragazzi del ’99”) were all the teenagers who were born in 1899 and were called to fight for Italy during ww1 when they turned 18. Their effort was crucial because the Italian army was stationed on the Piave River since several months rejecting Austrian attacks and needed fresh reinforcements. Nowadays they are remembered on the 4th of November (Armed Forces Day) and you can find several [monuments dedicated to them](http://iamnotmakingthisup.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/IMG_9823-armistice.jpg).
