The woman next to him looks like she is thinking "of all the days to take the bus"

Lady standing up on the right looks like Professor Umbridge from Harry Potter.

The terror in his eyes says he knows how risky his actions were. Thanks for persevering!

1986? What the hell. TIL that this shit was still in existence in my childhood.

That lady sitting beside him looks pretty awkward

My parents educated me that a young man doesn’t sit in a bus where women or older people are standing. He should offer the seat. But probably the little shit didn’t even have parents to educate him. Disgusting.

I can’t imagine how horrible that poor man must have felt

My (white, for context) FIL was a lawyer working in South Africa against Apartheid with Nelson Mandela, they had to leave the country due to him and his family of eight being sent death threats and having dead animals heads left on their doorstep at night. It was only a matter of time before it escalated. He’s a tough old boot, but when I found this out he gained so much more respect and pride. They moved to another country but were unable to bring their Krueger with them so had to start from scratch. I shall tell this story to his grandchildren when they’re old enough so they never forget how bad things got and what a badass their Papa was.

The most awkward feeling pic I’ve ever seen.

The right question here is – are the white passengers more terrified, or him?

I just want to give that man a hug! The terror in his eyes is heartbreaking.

You can see the Karen forming on the side

I wonder who he is and what happened. Such bravery is rarely rewarded.
I’ll just be here worrying about what happened to a stranger a quarter century ago.

I know what that old white lady is thinking!

Interesting, and we know what’s happened to white farmers in South Africa that are going on now.
Tough place to live it would seem.
