A paramilitary member of the Serb Volunteer Guard (also known as “Arkan’s Tigers”, after its founder Željko “Arkan” Ražnatović) kicks a dying Bosniak woman during the massacre in Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina. April 1992. [2500 x 1661]
Scum of the earth. Hope he and his pals got what they deserved.

Oh there is so much more gruesome crime committed by the same force…

Humans are just the worst species. We’re due for a reset just like the Mayans, we’ll be extinct.

You see, they don’t teach us this here in Serbia. This is the problem in ex-Yugoslav countries like Bosnia, Croatia and yours trully Serbia, we don’t recognize what we did as bad we just spit on the other group and the resson why we will stay dumb.

It’s really hard to look at a photo like this. I always find myself thinking "I can’t imagine hating another person so much that I could actually, physically hurt or kill them."
But, then, in a sociology class I learned about an experiment in the states during a depression where they were trying to understand how people like the Nazis come about. So they had a fake scientist lead a fake paid experiment where people would come in and ask questions to an actor behind a divide, though they didn’t know it was an actor. Every time the actor got the answer wrong, the person would press a button that would shock the other person and every time the actor would make sound as if they were in more and more pain.
Eventually, they got to a point where the people assumed their next push could kill the other person. They would protest, but once the "scientist" said he would take all responsibility, most of the people did give the "lethal" shock.
There was outrage when the results were published in the newspaper with people saying those involved were monsters. Except, they were just fellow townspeople who needed the money. It seems most people are capable of doing horrific things out of desperation.
I haven’t ever been able to hurt another person physically, even when attacked, so I truly can’t imagine ever doing so. But the science and history seems to say a majority likely have that point.
It just always makes me think… what did it take to make this man hate this woman that much?

An explosion of paramilitary troops popping out on all sides and their atrocities in 1991/92 shows just how badly & rapidly situation in former Yugoslavia deteriorated. It’s still hard to even imagine that only a couple of years before this was a very progressive and fairly liberal region.

They shot them just before this picture was taken.
>The Guard was created on 11 October 1990 by twenty members of the Red Star Belgrade football club Ultra group Delije Sever. The Guard was under the command of the Territorial Defense, a regular military in charge of the territories of Croatia populated predominantly by Serbs during the first half of the 1990s. Serb Volunteer Guard was organized as gang of criminals and armed by Belgrade.[3]
So, they hired football hooligans and criminals in this unit; would no one be surprised it would results in horrors such as the ones depicted here?
