Welp this is a good post to fall asleep to I guess
Oh fuck man I was not ready for this one.
well! what happened, did she wake her up or not?
I’m always just amazed at photographers and their ability to realize that something has to be captured for future generations to understand that point in history.
Would you pull your phone out to take a picture of a child trying to wake their dead parent? I know I wouldn’t. It’s morbid but necessary at points in a historical standpoint.
Kudos to the history tellers.
Imagine just standing there taking a picture while a kid tries to come to terms with a dead parent by themself. Wonder if he said “look over here and say cheese!”
Jesus fucking Christ, not what I had in mind when I opened reddit
Wait so was it a Russian girl or a Belorussian girl? I get the feeling OP can’t tell the difference between Russia and the Soviet Union.
Is it bad I go to the Lion King?
Is there not an NSFW or NSFL tag on this subreddit? This is a very disturbing image to stumble upon unprepared.
All these years later and that still rips my heart out.
We should really have more of such pics posted regularly. A jewish woman being chased by a group of vile men, and a kid (go figure), that was posted a few days ago was similarly heart-wrenching.
I’d be very surprised if that little girl didn’t end up in the Gulag – and subsequently dying – for having had contact with the West.
I think this is a good place to link the memoirs of a soviet officer describing what he saw during the liberation of [Auschwitz-Birkenau](https://www.reddit.com/r/history/comments/5powna/how_did_the_red_army_react_when_it_discovered/dcsp2x9/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=usertext&utm_name=news&utm_content=t1_dtcqgwx) .
