I am by no means a Vietnam War scholar but I did take an in-depth seminar in college on the conflict and I’m not familiar with the VNA acronym. It makes me think of NVA but then I’m not sure why an NVA officer would be punching a suspected Vietcong soldier. Any chance OP can give a little more background to the picture?

And by “suspected” they mean literally any male between 14 and 65. Entire villages and literally over a million people were wiped out using the “suspected vietcong” justification.
