Should have waited a few seconds to let the battle start before he shot him

I did a double-take after reading seconds before the battle of France". Could he not have waited?
Great pic though

I don’t follow – why is this a big deal? Obviously they are enemies. So I have two questions – why did he soot him if they are not yet enemies? And if he already shot him, why is he helping?

Im pretty sure the title is supposed to be more like this.
"A Wehrmacht soldier attempting to help a French soldier he had just shot. The Battle of France, June 1940"
To answer some of your comments, killing your enemies really isn’t the point of war. The french soldier is no longer a threat, the soldier has done his job and is now helping a fellow soldier to live. Their just kids from different sides of the Rhine.
