Post coronation procession under the Imperial canopy. Interesting detail is that the Chevalier Guard Lieutenant marching in front to the Tsar’s right is the future Marshal and president of Finland Mannerheim.
Even later in life and while leading the Finnish forces against the Red Army, he would keep the picture of the deposed and executed emperor on his wall. After being questioned about the validity of hanging a picture of the former tsar, Mannerheim simply replied: "He was my Emperor".
Is that Rasputin behind him?
What a swell guy. I see only good things for him going forward.
Am a huge fan of Russian/The Last Romanov History. Have seen a lot of photos of the Family, some even reposted here on Reddit, but it’s always great to see new and fresh photos I have not come across before like this one. Even if it’s of the same events, different angles/photos is always interesting to look at!
