The incident took place during the German invasion of Poland, and saw the execution of 250-300 Polish prisoners of war. Upon capture, the Poles were immediately stripped of their uniforms and labelled as partisan’s in an attempt to justify the executions. The massacre was documented by an anonymous German soldier in his personal journal. Afterwards the division would make a sweep of the nearby villages, committing multiple atrocities directed towards the civilian population.
