Probably can’t confirm 100% but if the farmhouse on the hill in background on the right side of the posted photo is the same one that is marked with the red arrow in [the photo with the linked comment](http://i.imgur.com/Uw053ZD.jpg) then I am pretty sure it wasn’t taken from Berghof or Eagle’s Nest. Note that in the photo with the linked comment that Dietrich Eckart Krankenhaus is visible on the lower left of the photo.
[Here is a screenshot from google maps](http://i.imgur.com/vg1mbV2.png) looking from behind Dietrich Eckart Krankenhaus toward the farmhouse which is marked with a red pin.

I think the mountains in the background of the google maps screenshot from behind, north, of the Dietrich Eckart Krankenhaus and the photo with the linked comment match the mountains in the background of the posted photo much better than the other two screenshots.
Also if there’s anybody here that hasn’t watched Band of Brothers and if you’re at all interested in WW2, please watch it. Starts out a little slow, but boy does it ramp up. If like Saving Pvt. Ryan, you’ll like this since they’re both directed by Steven Spielgerg and Tom Hanks.

Now I need to watch Band of Brothers again…

Can you imagine being the first Americans to get there? I wonder if there was resistance or if the Germans had already pulled out.

sabaton made a really nice song about this i believe, the last battle.

Awesome picture.
Kind of looks like the dude on the center left is looking at a smartphone.

I’ve been there. The scenery is breath taking.

Can anyone tell me the name of each soldier? Wanna know if HBO castes the series by appearance

Why are there only two wine glasses visible?

These are some of the greatest American heros of all time!

Is it me or does the one guy near the middle look like he’s checking Instagram or something on his phone

Welp, now I gotta watch Band of Brothers again for the 30th time…
And I’m gonna cry at the end for the 30th time.

This is the Berghof is it not?

Usually when this photo is posted someone points out that this is not Eagle’s Nest but Berghof. A couple of times this photo has been posted before [somebody said](https://www.reddit.com/r/HistoryPorn/comments/2jfcw3/dick_winters_and_his_easy_company_hbos_band_of/clbsluq/) it was taken from near the [Dietrich Eckart Krankenhaus.](http://www.vergessener-beton.de/kriegsschauplaetze/ns-bauten-ns-architektur/65-berchtesgaden/224-dietrich-eckart-krankenhaus-stanggass-berchtesgaden-2013.html)

You can see the same farmhouse pointed out by the red arrow in the photo in the linked comment on the far hill on the right through the trees.

Based on [these other images that show a little more of the house architecture](https://imgur.com/a/0EO78) and were taken at around the same time I think [this house](https://www.google.com/maps/place/47%C2%B038'00.4%22N+12%C2%B059'11.1%22E/@47.6333881,12.9860879,129m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d47.6334444!4d12.9864167), which is just a little north of the Dietrich Eckart Krankenhouse is likely the spot where the photo was actually taken.
