Ellenton was not exactly razed. A lot of buildings were physically moved to a new town called New Ellenton (still there today). Some buildings and homes were used as office space by the Savannah River Plant. Many of the curbs, roads, and ornamental plants that people had still exist, albeit wild, within the ~310 square mile border of the now-called Savannah River Site.

I live near here. You can tour what’s left of Ellenton within Savannah River Site on certain days, and there are historical markers. There’s also an annual reunion of folks that got displaced. It gives them a chance to get together and reminisce, and keep that but if history alive.
