Evacuated children during World War II 1940 (my Grandad is top row- second from right) to Langar, Nottinghamshire, England. He stayed for 2 years! [1024 x 779]
My Mum and Dad were born in Liverpool in 1933 & 1930. My Mum’s mother wouldn’t send her off with strangers to the country, so she was in a bomb shelter when their house was flattened in an air raid, and they lived through the rest of the war in an old gypsy caravan in a field in Blackpool.
My Dad and his brother were billeted to an older childless couple on a farm in Lancashire, and were used as slave labour and physically abused until his parents realized what was going on.
They were 7 and 10 in 1940. God bless every child who suffers in wartime.

That 35 year old kid in the middle looks likes more of a man than I ever will.
