Fort Standish was established in 1900 and was located on Lovell’s Island in Massachusetts. The fort was part of the modernization of America’s coastal defense system and Fort Standish was constructed to protect Boston Harbor. The fort was heavily manned during WWI and WW2 but was deemed obsolete and decommissioned shortly thereafter. This glass negative shows the military conducting training exercises.
