This is wonderfully romantic but those men where riding into a modern war on horse back wearing armor. They were facing machine guns, grenades, and artillery fire dressed as knights.

That was the battle that turned the tide of the war. It stopped being a war of movement and became a war of attrition until after the Spring Offensive in 1918.

Feels like the scene in lord of the rings when the troops are heading out to osgiliath again after having to retreat. Could be intentional since Tolkien spent alot of time in the trenches
