Traditional thought was that an Anti-Aircraft cannon would not be appropriate for destroying tanks but after the success of the Soviet T-34 I believe as well as the American Sherman (both militaries were considered inferior to the Wehrmacht by Germany early in WW2) the German Army looked for ways to knock out attacking forces. It was surprisingly effective at destroying tanks but as you can see, mobility was not an option.
