They use to have to calibrate the xrays by hand (literally) each time they were used so they got huge doses of xrays in one hand. That’s why they wear lead aprons now
Ah ok… For a moment I was thinking we started to do xrays to Zombies
At what point do you look for another job? When the nails start falling off?
"work your fingers to the bone, what do you get?"….
Radiation leads to direct damage to cells, causing an inflammation reaction that destroys local tissue, leading to fibrosis. Interestingly, prolonged exposure to the soft tissues of the hand is relatively preferable to exposure to vital organs such as the lungs, thyroid, and reproductive organs (which are much more susceptible to radiation-induced DNA damage increasing the risk for cancer); however, even on the hand the skin is quite susceptible to development of cancer, though skin cancer is most commonly found on the face and back due to prolonged sun exposure.
Can we have an x-ray of that hand?
-14 downvotes really? Guys I was joking.. I’m. Sorry for the man who got that hellish damage!
