  45. There is a story that Fred Roos, a well known casting director for Coppola, Lucas and many others, hired Ford to build a deck at his home. Roos was instrumental in helping many actors get a start in their career. He was casting for American Graffiti at the time and hired Ford for a part in the film. Ford’s career took off from that point and he never finished Roo’s deck. Asked about his role in helping Ford his usual comment was " I brought him along too fast.".
