Some countries still do that. I remember AK-47 training when I was at high school (basic feature of gun , cleaning, reloading, tuning)

Firearm safety should be taught in school. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s necessary for a high schooler to field strip an Ak. But basic safety should be implemented.
