History has tendency to repeat itself. For those that never pay attention.
Terrible history and another shameful part of my country’s history (SCOTUS, please overturn Korematsu). I do, however, want to clarify that they’re not being transported in a cattle car like it may seem. This is a standard military transport, possibly a Studebaker US6 or a GMC CCKW Deuce and a Half.
They were also taken from terminal island where they had their own community, their houses were sold to people in the area. My great grandfather bought a house and transported it to Wilmington on Hyatt Street .
They may not have perished the way internees in Hitler’s camps did, but the parallel to the camps under overpasses in Texas right now is palpable. Both are shameful episodes for America, the land of the “free”.
