JFK and Lyndon B. Johnson, along with their wives, are entertained by a mariachi band during a LULAC dinner in Houston, Texas, on November 21, 1963. [1894 x 1497]
Look at the date of the picture, and you’ll realize how eerie this seemingly innocent and lively scene is: November 21, 1963 was the final full day of John F. Kennedy’s life. After this League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) dinner, JFK would make the infamous campaign trip to Dallas.
Less than 24 hours later, JFK was dead and Lyndon Johnson would be taking the oath of office and becoming the 36th President. Lady Bird Johnson, sitting between Lyndon and JFK, would become First Lady. The rest is history.
