Norway had dissolves its union with Sweden earlier in 1905 and elected Prince Carl of Denmark as their new King. Carl accepted on the condition that Norwegian people were consulted on the matter, and after a referendum approved the choice he arrived and took up Kingship under the regnal name of Haakon VII.
He would continue to lead the Norway from 1905 to 1957, from Norway’s Independence to world war II and further.
