it’s heartbreaking that people some choose to ignore this suffering
What a long way the United States has come..
It’s the cowardly nature of racism that always gets me.
Nothing more dangerous than a mob or riot, people will act like a pack of wild dogs.
Some of them dont even look white though
His roundhouse is horrible, and so is he
I still can’t believe that happened. (I’m not denying just saying it’s insanity). Makes me sick.
Not sure who took this photo, I imagine it’s not Ernest Withers. But he is someone worth looking into. And was often with Wilson.
Just the other day I saw a story about the guy who beat up John Lewis during the civil rights era coming forward in his old age to say he’s sorry, and he regrets what a racist ass he was. I commented that I see photos like this here on this sub a lot and wonder if any of those people ever saw that light. So we know at least one did. Hopefully some of those in this photo did too.
I can see grandpa with the photo album, "Kid, that was your grandad being hateful and stupid when he was younger. Don’t you be that way, don’t make the same mistakes I did."
Such bizarre capitalisation of the title 😉
I believe this is from a series of moving photographs by Will Counts that was on display at the Little Rock National Arts Center for awhile a few years ago.
To openly hate another human being like that how do you sleep at night. If you lie that you believe in a god and can do that. Then you belong to nothingness
When I get my time machine this white dude is going to deliver some serious justice. A mob of absolute cowards.
Did they kill him? They don’t look like they are about to stop.
Oh how times change. Now there’s black mobs attacking white folk. Progress is great.
He never fully recovered from this attack and died a few years later in 1960. It’s crazy to think how recent this was, the children integrating Central High School are in their 70s-80s.
