Is that graffiti on it I’m clinically blind
Also if so hopefully that’s gone by now
I mean I have seen the modern photos of the statues but I never knew how big they actually are.
Area was flooded at Aswan, creating Lake Nasser. These statues were removed and relocated.
This is the Colossi of Ramses at the Abu Simbel temples. These things are insane… Back in the 60s they cut the entire temple up into pieces, moved its location to avoid flooding, and reassembled it. Keep in mind this is 1 of 4 statues side by side, you’re only seeing 1 in this picture and a small bit of the one next to it…. and there is the entire tunnel entrance and cave monument carved into the mountain itself. 500,000,000 lbs. Impressive engineering.
But Ramses is not dancing, he does not dance at the parties
I may be wrong, but it looks to me that one of the graffiti says “ALFRED ARAGO. 1867.” (I suppose it could be 1807, but it doesn’t look like it to me). Would that date this photo later than 1856?
Whoever that Browne guy is someone needs to reprimand him for vandalism.
Mr. Browne can eat a bunch of scarab dicks in his grave for eternity.
