Probably a consequence of Mussolini’s policy of trying to wean Italy from Pasta to Rice!

There was a bridge in Modena or very close to it that was bombarded during WWII and not rebuilt for a long time where children had to cross the river with a pulley system, I posted it a while back. This picture hides a lot of what Modena went through. Can’t even tell.
