I remember this…. The area they razed for the trade center was radio-row – it’s where you went to get anything having anything to do with radios, hi-fi, vacuum tubes, etc. It was a bunch of old school little shops, but they were determined. It’s always hard to watch progress because someone always gets hurt.

I’m fairly curious about how /r/HistoryPorn is going to react to next year being the 20th anniversary of 9/11 (given the 20 year rule). Graphic images are allowed of course, but seeing Bonnie and Clyde shot up is different from seeing this horrific event that most of the users here were alive to experience.
I operate a website called American September that collects "Where were you on 9/11" memories and also did a short set in the hour before the attacks. If anyone has any questions about the WTC and its history then feel free to ask, I can probably answer them.
