Some of these people are likely first generation immigrants from Europe. It would probably be wild to see the borders of your Homeland change just after leaving.
Most of these people are probably wondering what it was all for.
How could they be seeing the new map of Europe when new borders hadn’t been decided yet in November of 1918?
Even though I sorta lived through a somewhat similar event (break up of Soviet Union, and layer the break up of Yugoslavia) this still seemed like such a crazy thing to have experienced. Especially since early 20th century US cities were like half immigrant.
