The photo above was taken around the 14th-15th April 1919, during the US Army’s attempt to drive an M1917 Light Tank (a copy of the French Renault FT) up Pikes Peak in Colorado. The attempt was made to support the sale of Victory Loan war bonds. The tank climbed to 11,000ft before it had to turn back.
