Wow I had no idea the queen and Marilyn Monroe were the same age

Just my opinion but in this picture I see a woman raised to be constantly in the public eye who is relatively at ease with it, and another who has been swept up into fame and feels tense. 20/20 hindsight of course but knowing the trajectory of their lives it’s compelling. It’s a great picture.

Why is Monroe idolized? Wasn’t she a complete train wreck? Or am I missing something?

This was on October 29 at the Empire Theater during the Royal Command Performance of the movie "The Battle of the River Plate." Marilyn almost arrived late for the event where Brigitte Bardot, Joan Crawford and Anita Ekberg were also present.
I see them as in aww of each other, mutual respect.

Isn’t this where they swapped places?

And what do you do?

Marilyn was filming the movie “The Prince and the Showgirl” during this time and the dress she wore is a stunning gold lame and there was a matching gold cape. Her photographer, Jack Cardiff, stayed up with Marilyn trying to decide what to wear. Jack said she shouldn’t wear something revealing since it’s what everyone would expect and she was meeting her majesty after all. “You’re so right” she said. And then she went on and wore this beautiful, skin right lame gown with platform heels.

I think that’s the actor Victor Mature on Marilyn’s right?
P.s. Brilliant photo. Great share.

Marilyn died years later. The Queen is still the Queen. Amazing lady she is. Dumb American here.
