I realise that Reagan was a fantastic rhetoritician and public speaker. But it still astonishes me to this day that the Democrats couldn’t find a better nominee in 1984 than Walter Mondale.
I feel like they went into the election knowing they were going to lose regardless of which candidate they fielded and Mondale was just the sacrificial lamb they settled on.
