September 1918. “Shell Shock patients having a happy time fishing and swimming under the walls of the old chateau. These American soldiers are recovering from war neurosis, as the scientists now call the condition that used to be described as ‘shell-shock.’ ” 2200×1654
"Capt. A.E. Is the caption a quote from that era too? "War neurosis" isn’t a modern alternative to "PTSD" is it?

This looks like the scene from the movie “1917”, but it can’t be cause the photo says it was in 1918.

Hasn’t anyone thought about the idea of what would happen if someone threw a firecracker in the middle of the crowd? (Apart from being shot by the captain)

This photo is really powerful to me for some reason. These people finally got their peace after probably experiencing extreme horrors that we cannot fathom. They can experience the peace and happy moments, but they will never be the same…

I know how these guys must’ve felt dealing with PTSD ("shell shock"). Fishing really is a calming activity that I recommend for guys dealing with it.
