And this is why Vietnamese traps were often made to maim and not kill. Why remove one soldier from the battlefield when you can remove four instead?

I heard a lot of guys say they finally realized how beautiful Vietnam was as they laid on stretchers staring to the sky, knowing they were finally on their way home.
I made that up, but sounds plausible or at very least, worth of a movie scene xD
Meanwhile they were placing some field hospitals in swamps, correctly assuming nobody would think they’d be there.

I’m very curious to see images from the Vietnamese side of the war. They successfully fought off a series of imperialist invaders including the worlds most powerful army. It would be an interesting exercise in empathy to see more of their perspectives.

Soldier on the left is about to drop, dude is struggling with the heat, humidity and weight plus wading in that canal. Note that he had both hands on the stretcher, meaning his left arm has gave out on him.

Guy on the right is approaching middle age and is on at least his second Vietnam tour judging by the 1st Cav patch on his right shoulder. His head is down and he is just gutting it through the task at hand. He is tired too, but too tough to show it and is probably telling himself "one step at a time… another… one step at a time…
