A dispute between a hot-tempered Turkish teenager and a patience-worn street cleaner, who attempts to ward off the juvenile by repeatedly barking, “oğlum bak git,” or “get lost, kid.”
A young Turkish hoodlum and a broom-wielding street cleaner are currently making Turkish Internet history.
“Oğlum Bak Git,” which Google translates roughly as “Go See My Son,” shows a very young man of indiscernible age threatening a municipal worker with his belt. After taunting and then striking the municipal worker, the older man brandishes his broom and hits the teen in the head with it twice. The young man wails loudly and flees immediately after being struck.
It’s a shameful moment, made worse by the teen’s younger brother who caught it all on on camera. Apparently, the younger brother enlisted the help of his brother to extract revenge after he received a slap from the street cleaner for taunting him about his stutter. Instead, he captured his older brother running away with his tail between his legs.
After the incident, boy gets 20 stitches on the head, and his family goes to the Police, but just after the video got published on web and attracted public attention, family withdrew from pursuing legal struggle
Kid’s interview:
Kid: We were walking up the street, joking each other and stuff. That guy said “Hey this a neighborhood, don’t fool around”. We were swearing at that moment. And I said “it’s cool, this is our neighborhood”. We kept on yelling and stuff and the guy said “come over here”. We hid somewhere, then I came out, thinking he won’t do anything. He slapped me and stuff. Then I said nothing, he said “I’m gonna call the cops” – he called someone, we don’t know whom. Then walked over and… you know how it goes from there.
Reporter: You took off your belt right?
Kid: Yeah.
Reporter: Yeah go on.
Kid: Then he hit me, and I hit him. (…) He hit me first. That’s why.
Reporter: And why were your friends filming?
Kid: I’m not sure, I think it wasn’t them who got it on video.
Reporter: You took the video from someone else?
Kid: Guess so, I don’t know.
Reporter: Do you know this video has gone viral on the internet lately?
Kid: I do sir.
Reporter: Have you seen it?
Kid: No I have not.
Reporter: Had you been given given emegency care?
Kid: Yeah I’ve got my head stiched up.
Reporter: How many?
Kid: 12
Reporter: Can you show us?
Kid: Here
(…)
Kid: I was at the hospital until 8 o’clock sir. It was 5 when I got there and I left at 8.
Reporter: Are you seeing that garbage man around here?
Kid: No sir. I’ve heard he’s been doing his job somewhere else, that’s what my friends told me.
