On April 8, 1989, Bert Greiser and Michael Bachmann tried to flee from East to West Berlin
by running between the cars on the border check.
State security officer Karl-Heinz B. shot at them. He didn’t hit them but they stopped and
West German media named the shooter "Kippe" (butt of a cigarette).
Another photo from the escape and how the two guys look like now.
There’s an old photo I believe from the 60s(?) of a young guy (Peter Fechter) who climbed a latter, with East Berlin immediately opening fire. Truly fucked up how they would open fire on people who weren’t trying to cause harm.
Kippe doesn’t mean cigarette butt, it’s used for cigarette in general.
The angle the picture is taken and fence behind him makes it look like he has horns. Or maybe he has horns.
Now you reminded me I don’t have a Makarov and I’m not happy now
What a crazy time in history! Great photo!
Looks like hellboy’s brother with those sawed off horns and the tiny gun.
Guy looks like someone who is trying to stop Bruce Willis from finding a bomb.
It reminds me of Officer Bubbles from the G20. Immortalized for life.
Considering he’s not even looking at where he’s pointing the gun, I’m curious if he was actually trying to hit them, or is it more "I don’t want to shoot them but the Stasi will shoot me if I don’t at least point the gun in their general direction and pull the trigger" ?
Socialism…get shot running away from it. Capitalism…get shot chasing after it.
