It must have been so cool to go to the World’s Fair around the turn of the century (this is a bit earlier, but from then through 1910 or so).
Humans used to be fucking impeccable. Not just some of them, but every single one.
My Dad’s Great-Aunt was a little girl when the Statue of Liberty came over in pieces. She lived to be 106.
She told my parents that American school- children collected pennies to pay for assembling and erecting Liberty, and she remembered doing it.
Wait they took it off the statue of liberty?
Edit: nevermind. I thought the statue was way older. Life is crazy
Ooh cool. r/alternateangles would love this
Does this mean that the statue was copper colored in this picture?
I’d love to see a colorized version of this photo. Or any colorized version of the status of liberty before it turned green.
