And here’s the harvest in 1957.
The Chianti wine harvest last year in Tuscany!
Old photos of children with adult faces freak me out.
Children had to carry them around the streets like that because there was no other way to let them hang. You see, Italians didn’t discover building with wood until the late 1950’s when Mussolini finally let Italians cut down trees. They were trying to overcome the great tree depression of the 1890’s, when all Italian trees almost went extinct due to syphilitic outbreak in the Italian woods. Due to their repopulation efforts, Italian trees had a population of 3 million by the early 50s. But, he said they couldn’t use any tools to knock them down because that was cheating. You had to be able to knock it down by yourself, or you didn’t deserve to kill the tree. Great leader that Berlusconi.
The more you know!
That’s either a young kid or a short middle aged lady.. I can’t tell which..
Edit: The more you zoom in the worse is get
Wow I had no idea it was grown from plants. Imagine how much healthier we’d be eating pasta if it was still around.
It reminds me of my time in Tuscany when I went and watched the cork soakers in action. They say a cork soaker is born, not made, but also with time and practice anyone can be an expert cork soaker. I remember one particular girl was soaking two corks at once and massaging grapes at the same time!
