Edit: that was all wrong – these guys are Blackfoot, from much further west (and incidentally, pretty close to where I live). So nevermind.

As horses seem to be quintessential for the Plain Indians, it is hard to realize that the Native Americans didn’t have horses in the precolombian era…
All horses got extinct after arrival of the Native Americans around 12000BC….
The so called Plain Indians developped their horse riding life style only after arrival of the Spanish who brought the first domesticated horses to America.
