In the 1970s it was pretty common to climb the third smallest pyramid. You could drive right up to it at the time. The stones are huge though, and to climb it required following a rather crumbling "path". I went out there in about 1978 with some other students from the Cairo American College and hung about … a few of the kids climbed up (can’t recall how far they got). Much beer was drunk.
