They all were no match against the united will of the workers.

Interesting, didn’t know China also sent troops in Russian Civil War intervention

Wasn’t the civil war the result of the Bolshevik coup against the provisional government? Seems strange to frame it otherwise.

Here’s a similar colorized photo of the 8 Nation Alliance that responded to the Boxer Rebellion in China. It operated from June 1900 to September 1901.
Imagine being some Russian peasant who’s never even left his collective farm, one day you and the other peasants pick up a rifle and join the civil war. Now you’ve seen Americans in the newspaper, but no way they’re all the big burly mountain men that teddy Roosevelt made them look out to be.
Then you meet your first American and it’s a literal mountain wrapped in sheep skin and muscle. Must’ve been a crazy cultural shock.
As a matter of fact, I’m sure this photo alone is a big cultural shock to all of these men. I mean nowadays you talk to anyone from any country, and you get facts about their culture and how they live right from them, in am instant without leaving your room. Back then, what you knew of other countries and other people came from your state run media or word of mouth from other peasants who probably never met anyone outside the farm either.
Edit: obviously the American and Canuck would be no strangers, as well as the solider from the UK. But someone from Canada meeting an Italian or a US soldier meeting some soldier from China must’ve been the experience of a life time
