To compare, the US expenditure on healthcare in 2013 was about 2.8 trillion dollars. Less than 1%, and that’s revenue in the entire world.
Opioids, for example, are a million times worse than vaccines:

* Science shows that opioids cause death and ruins lives across America. That’s the same science, mind you, that you’re so upset about when it supports vaccines.

Watch *Vaxxed* and read *Dissolving Illusions* and you’ll learn a lot about the history of vaccines (mostly from the book) and the corruption in the CDC (mostly from the film). The CDC’s corruption looks a lot like the SEC’s were people go from banksters to regulators and back again.

becomesthehunted: Hi I was wondering if I could ask OP something. I am a research biologist, not directly in vaccine research, but I know some wonderful people who do work in it. They really want to help people and prevent diseases. All of our funding either comes from government contracts, or some private companies or non profits that provide us with the cash to pay for our research. These are all the groups your link pointed to, including the CDC, NIH, and even the department of defense. If you were to remove pharmaceutical companies and the government from funding for these ideas, who would pay for the research? I and other scientists need to make a living (which outside of full PhDs is not the extravagant), so who pays for adequate research into the efficacy of vaccines?
Myhearthergain: Vaccines are massively important. Looking for forward to more outbreaks of previously defeated diseases thanks to the ludicrous antivax movement. Keep up the good work.
Reportingthreat: Ok, I’ve worked with some academics who research vaccines. Multiple months of emailing and data analysis. For them (and me i guess?) to be in on some conspiracy, we’d have to have faked a whole paper, faked tons of emails. They would have to be stringing me along for tons of conversations. And the conference of 100’s of research presentations would have to similarly be months of work for a made up front.
It doesn’t make any logistical sense. They would need to be some underground source of information and communication that no one told me about, and no one has ever leaked, while thousands of scientists participate knowingly in fake research programs.
No one goes into academic research to get rich.

mgtowapprentice: Why has nobody called out the OP for their agenda posting? Look at the pattern of their post history. Only posts about anti-vax or to try to discredit medical professionals. Many posts per day than a one week “vacation” from posting (just so happens it was last week which is holiday week in the US) and then blasts this subreddit with 8 posts about anti-vax in the span of one hour.

Reportingthreat: I’m glad that Sanofi caught this problem. It would have been better if they’d caught it earlier. Here’s an [article from statnews](https://www.statnews.com/2017/11/30/dengue-vaccine-worsen-disease-sanofi/) that give details.
The vaccine appears to be effective at preventing the second infection hemorrhagic fever, but only if you’ve already had the first infection. That’s good since dengue is a huge killer in the tropics and a hemorrhagic fever is a miserable way to die. The really bad part is that it makes the disease progression worse if you’ve never had dengue.
