There was a big rivalry between Chicago’s Stockyard and Union Stockyard in Omaha, NE. In 1955 Omaha finally overtook Chicago as the country largest livestock market.
Here’s an aerial picture of the yard and Livestock Exchange Building. I believe from sometime in the 40’s. The scale of these places is massive.
