Walter Freeman ‘the father of the lobotomy’, performing an operation by hammering an ice pick into the brain via the eye socket. (Note the audience and lack of PPE). ca.1950s. (892 x 687).
Walter Freeman had a 14% fatality rate with his procedure. He did the procedure thousands of times, killing hundreds of people. PPE wasn’t a common practice then, but sterilization was and he regularly refused sterilization procedures.
